Court Remands Surety as Accused Person Jump Bail

A 43-year-old man, Dele Abiodun has been remanded in Correctional Facility by Osun State Magistrates’ Court sitting in Osogbo for failure to produce an accused person he stood as surety for.

The prosecutor, ASP Idoko John told the court that Dele Abiodun on the 10th day of October 2017 to date, at the High Court of Justice, Osogbo in the Osogbo Magisterial District, did conspire with one Femi Abiodun ‘m’ a defendant in Charge No. HOS/46/2014 with intent to prevent, pervert or defeat the course of justice, did stand as a surety for him and promised to produce him in court till the case against him is disposed of but failed to do or act as you promised and thereby committed an offence punishable under 126(1) of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol. II, Laws of Osun State of Nigeria, 2002.

Abiodun pleaded not guilty to one-count charge leveled against him.

The defense counsel, R. A Nngu urged the court to grant his client bail in most liberal terms.

The prosecutor opposed the bail of the defendants, he explained to the court that the defendant did not reside in the magisterial district. He resides at Ekiti and relocate to Lagos state in the course of the investigation

The Magistrate, O. O Oladoke ordered that Abiodun be remanded at Ilesa correctional center and adjourned the matter till March,31,2020 for ruling on the bail
