DSS Arraigns Blogger Justice Crack In Abuja Over Alleged Incitement Against Nigerian Army

Date:

The Department of State Services (DSS) has arraigned Nigerian blogger and activist, Justice Mark Chidiebere, popularly known as Justice Crack, before the Federal High Court in Abuja over allegations of incitement.

Security sources told SaharaReporters that the activist was taken back into DSS custody immediately after his arraignment on Monday, raising concerns over his continued detention.

The courtroom was reportedly heavily secured, with operatives stationed around the premises, while journalists were denied access to cover the proceedings.

Outside the court, members of the Take It Back Movement and other activists staged a protest demanding his release, chanting solidarity songs and insisting on his freedom.

“Release Justice Crack! He is innocent!” the protesters were heard chanting.

The arraignment comes amid controversy surrounding his detention, following allegations that he was previously tortured while in military custody before being handed over to the DSS. Reports had claimed he was chained to a tree under the sun for over 72 hours, sparking public outrage.

Human rights activist Omoyele Sowore accused security agencies of attempting to justify what he described as unlawful detention, insisting the activist should be released unconditionally.

According to family members, Justice Crack was arrested after criticising the military over alleged extrajudicial killings and raising concerns about soldiers’ welfare.

In a viral video, a relative described his treatment as inhumane, claiming he was left tied to a tree for days because he spoke out for oppressed Nigerians.

However, the Nigerian Army has defended its actions, alleging that the activist attempted to incite soldiers and undermine military discipline.

In a statement signed by its spokesperson, Colonel Appolonia Anele, the Army said preliminary findings suggested he engaged soldiers in discussions that could create discontent within the ranks, adding that his actions posed risks to discipline and national security.
