Ex- Ekiti Governor Fayemi Mourns Deceased Bar Aspirant

Date:

Former Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of a young lawyer, Oluwadamilola Fatimat Agbaje, describing her as a brilliant and inspiring young woman whose life embodied excellence, courage, and service.

In a heartfelt tribute, on his Instagram page posted on Saturday, Fayemi recalled Agbaje’s early emergence into the spotlight as one of the winners of the inaugural John Kayode Fayemi Essay Competition at the age of 16, a moment he said marked the beginning of a remarkable journey.

“I am deeply saddened by the passing of Oluwadamilola Fatimat Agbaje, a truly brilliant and inspiring young woman,” Fayemi said.

“I remember her vividly as one of the winners of the inaugural JKF Essay Competition at just 16 years old. That moment marked the beginning of what became a remarkable journey of excellence and service,” he said.

Agbaje went on to become a top law graduate, an award-winning debater, a youth leader, and an advocate, earning recognition for her intellect and unwavering commitment to causes larger than herself.

“Oluwadamilola embodied the very ideals we hoped to celebrate through that competition: intellect, courage, purpose, and vision,” Fayemi stated. “Her achievements were extraordinary. She represented the very best of Ekiti’s promise.”

While acknowledging the pain of her loss, Fayemi urged the public to find strength in the legacy she left behind.

“Her loss is a painful one, but her legacy will continue to inspire many,” he said. “My thoughts are with her family, friends, and all who were touched by her light.”
