This new Courthouse in the western axis of the State is a further demonstration of His Excellency’s quest to deliver justice to all residents of the State, by bringing access to justice closer to the people and ensuring distance or geographical location is not an impediment. It also completes the circle of having modern court facilities in all administrative divisions of the State.

As a government, the importance of having a peaceful society, where Law and Order are upheld, disputes resolved and punishments meted to offenders in order to strengthen the confidence of residents and investors in the administration of justice in the State, cannot be overemphasized.

Within the two years of this administration, the Justice Sector has without doubt been further enhanced with the introduction of various reforms which have undeniably paved the way for easier access to justice with the establishment of the Special Offences (Mobile Court), the DNA Forensic Centre, online access and sale of Laws of Lagos State, appointment of additional Judges and Magistrates, improved welfare of the Judges and Magistrates, both serving and retired to mention a few.

We thank Your Excellency for these giant strides which showcase your unflinching commitment and support towards the actualization of the vision of Justice for all. As I speak, His Excellency has approved the construction of other court buildings in other parts of the State.

For all these and much more, I seize this opportunity to thank His Excellency.

This Court complex has six (6) Court Rooms and Judges/Magistrates’ Chambers, and in line with the tradition of honoring former Chief Judges, the court will be dedicated to the honour of a former Chief Judge of Lagos State in the person of Honourable Justice Olusola Thomas.

I congratulate My Lord, Hon. Justice Opeyemi Oke, the Honourable Chief Judge of Lagos State for this first in her tenure and hope it sets the tune of more to come. I also congratulate the entire Lagos State Judiciary and my constituency, the Nigerian Bar Association, whom I hope this edifice will assist to increase the vibrancy of the practice of the law profession.

Once again, I welcome and thank you all for taking out time to be a part of this historic event.
