Ikeja NBA Leadership Feud – Reconciliation meeting ends in deadlock

Date:

There appear to be no end in sight for the leadership feud currently rocking the Ikeja Branch of the Nigeria Bar Association as the reconciliation meeting which was convened by the NBA President, Mr. Abubakar Mahmoud, SAN ended in deadlock.

The reconciliation meeting which was held yesterday, 8th September 2016 as earlier scheduled by the President of the Nigerian Bar Association, A.B. Mahmud SAN had in attendance, the President, the General Secretary, Deacon Dele Adesina SAN, Mr. Jimoh Lasisi SAN, Mr. Layi Babatunde SAN, Mr. Wemimo Ogunde SAN, Dr. Muiz Banire SAN, Prince Dele Oloke, Mr. Adesina Ogunlana and Mrs. Eire Alufohai, the NBA Executive Director.

After much deliberations, it was unanimously resolved that an enlarged meeting of the Elders of NBA Ikeja Branch be conveyed and by consent make recommendations to the President on the Interim and long term measures to be taken towards amicable resolution of the dispute. The Elders were given till Friday 16, September 2016 to report to the President.

It would be recalled that as a result of the crisis members of the Association moved a motion suspending indefinitely its monthly general meeting pending the resolution of the feud. The members expressed hope that the intervention of the National President would bring the leadership feud to an end. This hope was however dashed at the reconciliation meeting yesterday.  It is hoped that the move to escalate the feud to the elders of NBA Ikeja Branch and the recommendations therefrom would ensure a final resolution of the conflict and restore peace in the branch.
