The National Industrial Court of Nigeria has established a new judicial division in Abeokuta.
The New Judicial Division held its inuagural sitting on Monday, 27th January 2025, at the Court premises located at High Court Complex, Isabo, Abeokuta, Ogun State.
The establishment of the new division is part of the efforts by the President of the Court, Hon. Justice Benedict Kanyip, PhD, OFR to strengthen the administration of labour justice in the State and to encourage industrial harmony in line with international best practices.
In his address, Justice Kanyip who was represented by the Chief Registrar, Mr Olurotimi Williams Daudu stated that the event signifies a new chapter in the pursuit of justice in labour related matters in Ogun State. He urged members of the Bar and litigants to make use of the new division for timely dispensation of justice.
His Lordship Hon. Justice Sanda Yelwa conducted the inaugural sitting. The ceremony was graced by the Deputy Chief Registrar (DCR) from Lagos, alongside the staff of NICN Abeokuta.
The inaugural case was a Motion Exparte in suit no NICN/AB/13/2024.
