The legal community in Nigeria is mourning the passing of a distinguished jurist, Justice Sekinat Adunni Abosede Adebajo, who died peacefully on Sunday, May 18, 2025, at the age of 89.

Fondly known as Adunni Adebajo, the late Justice was born on September 29, 1935, in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, and lived a life marked by unwavering integrity, compassion, and exemplary service to the Nigerian judiciary. Over the years, she became a revered figure on and off the bench, celebrated for her deep commitment to justice and quiet but firm leadership.

Justice Adebajo’s judicial career was distinguished not by public fanfare but by the clarity of thought, fairness, and balance she brought to every decision. Her judgments and mentorship have left a lasting imprint on the Nigerian legal landscape. Former colleagues, protégés, and admirers recall her as a beacon of humility, grace, and wisdom — a judge whose legacy transcends the courtroom.
