37 years old Tijani Mohammed, who allegedly stole three trucks laden with rice worth N5.5 million, was in Lagos on Tuesday charged before an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court.
The accused, is facing a two-count charge of fraud and stealing. He, however, pleaded innocence of the offences.
The Magistrate, Mrs Helen Omisore admitted him to bail in the sum of N1million each with two sureties each in like sum who must show proof of payment of tax.
Insp. Cousin Adams said the offences were committed on March 9 at about 2.00 p.m. at Daleko market, Mushin a Lagos surburb. He noted that the accused had fraudulently obtained the sum of N5.5 million from the complainant, Adekunle Ajayi promising to supply him 3 trucks load of rice but had failed to.
The offences, he noted, contravened Sections 285 and 321 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
