NBA Badagry to Boycott Badagry Court over Court Congestion

Date:

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Badagry Branch have threatened to boycott the Courts both the High Court and Magistrate Court in Badagry from Monday.

The NBA Branch indicated that their action is premised on the refusal of the authorities to hid to their agitation that the court complex are congested. In a statement issued by Mr. Williams Anthony, a Member of the Badagry Branch of the NBA, he lamented that all pleas by the NBA Branch to the Governor and the Attorney General and the Chief Judge of Lagos to commission the new court building to decongest the only High Court in Badagry has fallen on deaf ears.

He wrote:

Today NBA Badagry would embark on boycott of the Courts in Badagry we have reached out to the authorities and also cried out to the Governor and Attorney General the Chief Judge about the commissioning or opening of the new Court complex to decongest both the High Court as the Two Judges use one Court room and Chambers and they share sittings hours cos slowing the already slow judicial process. In respect of the Magistrate Court Badagry had Two Magistrates now reduced to One thus overworking the only Magistrate who can’t complain but breaks down now and then again slowing down the train of justice imagine one person having 100 cases on his list for one day.Enough is Enough Aluta continua

This is not right at all. We appeal on the appropriate authorities to do the needful in this regard.
