NBA President Constitutes a 23-Member Working Group on AFCFTA [Full List]

The President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Mr. Yakubu Chonoko Maikyau, OON, SAN has established the NBA Working Group on the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). In a notice issued by Mr. Maikyau in this regard, he noted that the establishment is in furtherance of his commitment to continuously explore opportunities for the members of the Association in the area of professional development as well as strengthening legal practice.

According to him, the Working Group is set up to conduct a full assessment of the impacts of AfCFTA on the legal profession and legal practice in Nigeria, identify, develop, and recommend possible legislative interventions, and other practical/implementable short, medium, and long term measures that will prepare members of the legal profession to actively participate in the AfCFTA regime and carry out such other functions that may be assigned by the President or the National Executive Council.
