The National Judicial council (NJC) has thrown out the petition filed against Honourable Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court, Abuja, by some group of lawyers under the aegis of Ekiti Lawyers Vanguard for Transparency, alleging various misconduct and controversies.
The lawyers; Ademiloye Oladotun, Balogun Adeyemi, Fadeshola Alice, Ola-Ojo Samuel, Olayinka Ibrahim, Adebayo Joel, Akintoye Bayonle, Ogundare Kayode, Adaramola Olakunle and Igandan Olawunmi, on behalf of 54 lawyers, who are members of the Vanguard, accused justice Nwite of bias and desecration of the hallowed temple of justice with what they described as unjust conducts, maintaining that the judge’s actions were capable of bringing Nigeria to great disrepute if they are not curbed.
However, the NJC in its reply issued by its secretary, Ahmed Gambo Saleh on behalf of the CJN, noted that the group failed to include a verifying affidavit as required by the Judicial Discipline Regulations 2017.
“With reference to your undated petition on the above subject matter. I have been directed to inform you that Council could not treat the petition because it has not complied with the provisions of Regulation 14 (5) of the extant Judicial Discipline Regulations 2017 of the Council, as there was no verifying affidavit in support of same as required by the Regulations, please”, the NJC stated,
