 Nsukka Bar Holds Valedictory Court Session for Slain Elias Ugwu

The Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) Nsukka branch today the 14th of June, 2024 held a Valedictory Court Session in honour of their colleague Late Elias Okey Ugwu who’s life was cut short by a trigger-happy Police officer. The late Elias was killed by the police  sometimes in the month of March 2024 while he went to pay ransom for his cousin who was kidnapped.

According to the  Publicity Secretary of the Branch, H. O. Eze, the valedictory court session commences the final burial rite of the late Elias Ugwu.

Popularly called “Eli Ugwu, the late legal luminary was until his untimely death  a very vibrant lawyer and ardent member of the Bar.

In his speech during the session, the Chairman of the branch, Mr. Linus Sunday Okoro, condoled with the family of the deceased and prayed that God will grant them the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

He decried the gruesome murder of the late Eli Ugwu, describing him as “such an invaluable asset to the legal profession”. He also extolled the dogged footprints of Late Eli Ugwu which according to him are worthy of emulation while reminding all present about the inevitability of death and the need to live life righteously. He once more charged the appropriate institutions to ensure that justice is served on the perpetrators.

Among the luminaries who graced the court session where the President of the Customary Court of Appeal Enugu state, Hon. Justice G. C. Nnamani, Hon. Justices of the Enugu State High Court, Learned Magistrates, Former Attorney General of Enugu state and Senior Members of the Bar.
