Obasanjo to Chair Opening Ceremony of NBA-AGC 2025 in Enugu

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has announced that His Excellency, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, GCFR, former President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, has confirmed his attendance and will serve as Chairman of the Opening Ceremony of the NBA Annual General Conference (AGC) 2025, scheduled to take place in Enugu State.

The confirmation followed a courtesy visit to Chief Obasanjo’s residence by a high-level NBA delegation led by the President of the Association, Mazi Afam Osigwe, SAN. Other members of the delegation included the Chairman of the Annual General Conference Planning Committee (AGCPC), Chief Emeka Obegolu, SAN; Alternate Chairman, Mr. Sammie Somiari, SAN; Former Attorney General of Oyo State, Adebayo Ojo, SAN; and other distinguished members of the AGCPC.

During the visit, the NBA leadership briefed the elder statesman on the objectives, theme, and strategic vision of this year’s conference, themed “Stand Out, Stand Tall.” In his characteristically statesmanlike manner, Chief Obasanjo commended the NBA’s role in fostering national dialogue and promoting legal reform. He graciously accepted the invitation, expressing his support for the conference and its theme.

The 2025 NBA Annual General Conference is scheduled to hold from Friday, August 22 to Thursday, August 28, 2025, and preparations are already in full swing to ensure a world-class event. With a theme designed to inspire excellence and leadership within the legal profession and beyond, the conference will feature high-level panel sessions, networking opportunities, exhibitions, and social engagements.

Chief Obasanjo’s presence at the Opening Ceremony is expected to set the tone for what promises to be a landmark event in the history of the NBA-AGC, enriching the conversations with his deep insights, pan-African experience, and unwavering commitment to national development.

The NBA urges legal practitioners, stakeholders, and the general public to mark their calendars and prepare to attend what will undoubtedly be a conference to remember.
