The Dairy of The Practising Lawyer
(I.)
In the dairy of the practising lawyer,
The Law is the Lord and God
The court is the Lord and God
Their Lordships are the Lord and God,
And when desperation meets unguarded aspiration,
Becoming a SAN becomes the Lord and God.
Scriptural socialisation,
Biblical immunisation,
Quranic memorisation,
And even the time-honoured mores,
Are drowned, drenched and
downed
In the raging appellation of lex lata!
In the roaring intimidation of the courtroom!
In the marathon to pluck & wear the hanging silk!
(II.)
In the dairy of the practising lawyer,
The client is the Lord and God
The client’s instruction is the Lord and God
The client’s satisfaction is the Lord and God,
And when myopia meets ungodly phobia,
The client becomes the practising lawyer’s puppeteer
Of fifty shades of conduct infamous!
Rules of Professional Conduct,
Rules of professional fitness ,
Rules of professional propriety,
And societal reverence that comes with them
Are soured, sliced and
sunk
In the dirty ocean of the lawyer’s making!
In the spent motion of the lawyer’s footing!
In the wrong notion of the lawyer’s thinking!
(III.)
In the dairy of the practising lawyer
All becoming can become unbecoming
And all doings can become the undoing
When the Law sends the lawyer
the errand of absurdity
And there is muteness!
When the client sends the lawyer
the errand of a convict
And there is complicity!
When the court sends the lawyer
the errand of a novice
And there is dumbness!
