The Anambra State Police Command has commenced full investigations into the murder of one Barrister Peter Awah, said to be the Secretary of Okija Development Union.
It was gathered that Barrister Awah was murdered by some unknown assailants around 11pm on Sunday at Eke Umudioka, Okija.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, stated that, “Preliminary Information reveals that the assailants operating on motorbikes shot the deceased as he was about to alight from his vehicle for safety when he was approached by the murderers.”
Ikenga said some eyewitnesses had provided details that are already aiding the investigations.
Meanwhile, the state Commissioner of Police, Nnaghe Obono Itam, has commiserated with the family, friends of the deceased, the Nigeria Bar Association and the people of Okija.
He also directed the immediate transfer of the case to the Homicide Section of the Criminal Investigation Department, Awka, for a comprehensive probe into the incident.
