Praesidium Consultancy Partners NDPC to Sensitise Data Handlers

Date:

Praesidium Consultancy Limited, in collaboration with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC), has concluded plans to organise a one-day webinar on the impact of the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 on data controllers and processors in Nigeria come September this year.

The Praesidium Consultancy Limited media team disclosed this in a statement released to pressmen.

According to the statement, the webinar became necessary following the signing of the Nigeria Data Protection Bill 2023 into law by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The Act provides a legal framework for protecting personal information and practising data protection in Nigeria. Hence, all stakeholders, especially those in the financial sector of the Nigerian economy, must know all they can before the realities of data protection begin to unfold.

The statement reads in part, “Praesidium Consultancy Limited is organising a webinar in partnership with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) tagged: ‘Compliance Excellence: Strategies for Adhering to Nigeria Data Protection Act,’ which aims at familiarising financial institutions in Nigeria with the new Act as well as equipping them with the knowledge and tools necessary to navigate the complexities of data protection regulations.”

Praesidium Consultancy Limited is a Data Protection Compliance Organisation licensed by the Nigeria Data Protection Commission to carry out data protection compliance activities on behalf of data controllers and processors.

Mrs Roni Akins, the Managing Director of Praesidium Consultancy Limited, said the webinar is expected to have more than 200 participants in attendance and; promises to provide a comprehensive overview of the Nigeria Data Protection Act as well as highlight its key provisions, scope, and implications for organisations.

“Our mission is to educate participants on the importance of data protection and privacy, emphasising the significance of compliance in maintaining trust with customers, clients, and stakeholders.” She stated.

Dr Vincent O. Olatunji, the Commissioner/CEO of the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC), will deliver a keynote speech. Stakeholders in the financial sector, such as the Mortgage Banking Association of Nigeria (MBAN), have leaned support to ensure the full participation of members.

Interested participants are to pay the sum of N35, 000 to registering at www.praesidium.ng.
