Rights enforcement: Judge returns case file of El-zakzaky

Date:

The Federal High Court, Abuja on Monday returned the case file of leader of Shi’a Movement in Nigeria Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, to the Chief Judge of the Court for re-assignment. This move followed the reasoning of the vacation judge Justice Okon Abang that it would be impossible for the vacation court to commence and determine the suit within the remaining period of the annual courts vacation which is due to end in September 9, 2016.

While returning the file to the Honourable Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Abang observed that there was no legal representative for both parties.

It would be recalled that at the last hearing of the case, Abang declined El-Zakzaky`s application seeking his immediate release from the Department of State Service (DSS) due to non service of court  process to DSS and AGF by El-Zakzaky`s lawyer
