Upper Area Court Judge Dragged Before Chief Judge for Misconduct

A plaintiff, Ahmed Bello has dragged an Upper Area Court Judge in Mubi town of Adamawa state, Umaru Isa, before the state Chief Judge for alleged intimidation and misconduct.

Bello whose case was before Isa alleged that his refusal to give bribe to Isa on demand led to Isa handing over to him his case file.

“He gave me the case file and told me to go and do my case if I can not afford N100, 000,” he said while showing newsmen the file No. CRFI/135/2016.

In his petition to the Chief Judge of Adamawa, a photocopy of which was made available to newsmen Wednesday in Yola, Bello urged the Chief Judge to call Isa to order.

“I pray that your honourable office call Judge Umar Isa of Upper Area Court 11 Mubi to order for intimidating me and abuse of judicial process by handing over to me the case file and asking me to judge myself knowing fully that I am not a judge.

“I pray that a competent judge be appointed to handle my case to conclusion.”

Bello said that his case has been pending since 2013 and had been transferred to four different courts due to interest.

He explained that the case between him and his in laws who took his wife away with the intention to marry her off to another man was first Lodged at Hong Magistrate Court in 2013 before it subsequent transfers to Upper Area Court Gombi and Upper Area Court, Mubi.
