Uyo Court Slams Damages Against Instagram Vendor Mamusca Enterprise, Orders Bank To Pay Victim Of Fraud

A Chief Magistrates’ Court sitting in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State has slammed damages and costs against notorious Instagram Vendor doing business under the name and style of Mamusca Enterprises.

In a judgment delivered by the presiding Magistrate, Sifon C. Isong, Esq in Suit No. MU/48/2023 between Diana Ikpi Ofem vs. Iriri Blessing Mamus & 2 ors, the learned Magistrate held that the Plaintiff, Diana Ikpi Ofem was entitled to recovery of the sum of N116,500 which the Defendant defrauded her under the guise of a civil contract.

The honourable Court further awarded damages and costs of action thereby bringing the total amount to the sum of N435,800 and accordingly ordered the Defendant’s bank, United Bank for Africa Plc to pay same to the Plaintiff cum Judgment Creditor from the Defendant’ bank accounts. The Plaintiff’s Counsel, Paul Nyambi and Ekaette Ikono, Esq. thanked the Court for the erudite judgment and for the justice served in the Case.

Some time in December, 2022, the Plaintiff, Ms Diana Ikpi Ofem ordered for sundry hair accessories from the Defendant through her Instagram account, Mamusca_Enterprise and paid the sum of N116,500 to her through bank transfer after which the notorious Instagram scammer who has serially defrauded a lot of people then went on to block the Plaintiff on Instagram.

The Plaintiff, through her Counsel, Paul Nyambi and Ekaette Ikono, Esq filed an action at the Chief Magistrates’ Court, Uyo praying the honourable Court for declaratory reliefs against the Defendants.
