Woman docked for biting off friend’s eyelid

A 24-year-old woman, Angela Job, who allegedly bit off her friend’s eyelid during a fight which ensued over the debt she owed the complainant, was arraigned in Lagos.

Job was arraigned before a Magistrates’ Court sitting in Tinubu Lagos on Tuesday, on a charge of assault occasioning grievous harm.

She pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against her.

According to the prosecutor, Insp. Ben Ekundayo, the accused had on Aug. 19, at about 6.30 p.m. at Papa Bus Stop, Badore Road, Ajah, bit off the eyelid of one Uche Anyanwu.

He said that Angela bit Anyanwu’s eyelid off, when she asked the accused to pay the money she owed her.

“A fight ensued when Anyanwu asked for the money the accused owed her, the accused bit off the eyelid, causing the victim grievous harm,” he said.

Ekundayo said that the offence contravened Section 243 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

The Magistrate, Mr Ade Adefulire, granted the accused bail in the sum of N200,000, with two sureties in like sum.

He adjourned the case to Sept. 29 for further hearing.
