The Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) has launched the National Certification Program for Data Protection Officers (DPOs), marking a significant milestone in the country\u2019s journey toward strengthening data protection and privacy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The program was officially unveiled by the Honourable Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani, during a high-profile event that underscored Nigeria\u2019s leadership in promoting data privacy across Africa and beyond.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The initiative aligns with NDPC\u2019s strategic roadmap for human capital development and domestication of DPO certification. Speaking at the event, the National Commissioner and CEO of the NDPC, Dr. Vincent Olatunji, highlighted the program\u2019s potential to create job opportunities for Nigerian youths within the data protection ecosystem. He noted that the initiative is a critical component of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu\u2019s Renewed Hope Agenda, urging participants to seize the opportunity to join the global pool of certified DPOs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In his remarks, Dr. Bosun Tijani emphasized the federal government\u2019s commitment to equipping Nigerian youths for the digital age, describing the training program as a strategic investment. \u201cThe more connected we are, the more vulnerable we are,\u201d he noted, stressing the growing importance of data protection in an increasingly digital world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
