Deaf and dumb appears in Yobe court for defiling 6 months old baby

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corp (NSCDC), on Monday, charged 40 year old Shaaibu Danladi, before Magistrate court ll Potiskum, Yobe, for alleged rape of six months old girl.

 

Dr. Muhammad Fari, Commandant NSCDC, Yobe command, disclosed this on Monday in an interview with journalists in Damaturu.

He said Shaaibu, a deaf and dumb, allegedly lured 10 year old Khadija Tahir, who brought the six months old baby to him.

The commandant said  “The case no: YBS/PT/CMCII/091c/2016 which ought to be for arraignment, however, suffered temporary set back due to lack of a sign language expert to communicate with the suspect.”

He said “medical report indicate that the infant sustained tear in her vagina down to her anus.”

Dr Muhammad said the command would liaise with all relevant authorities to explore every available opportunity to ensure justice is done for both the victim and the accused in the case.

Hajiya Halima Gudi, chairperson of National Council of Women Societies (NCWS), Yobe, also said the council will pursue the case to logical conclusion.

“The council will liaise with NSCDC and office of the Attorney General to seek justice for little Hajara at whatever level and, to protect other girls and women in the state” Halima said.

She said the victim had undergone surgery and still have more medical procedures to go through to rectify her condition.

According to the Commandant, the court has directed the office of the state Attorney General to take over prosecution of the case.
